Training on project development and fundraising from donors
Description of Services Provided
Organisation of a hybrid training course (distance learning and face-to-face): preparatory and follow-up phases carried out remotely, as well as the organisation of a 5-day practical session in Douala, Cameroon, for a group of 25 post-doctoral researchers from various African and European countries participating in the RESSAC/CIFOR programme. The aim of this training was to strengthen the researchers’ capacity to set up and structure a project in line with the practices and policies of the various funding bodies in order to make it more attractive.
Specific Objectives
- To support participants in the development of projects.
- Advise and guide participants on techniques and tools for effectively analysing the context and needs of their project, proposing a coherent concept and planning the design of the project.
Participant Feedback on the Mission
- The training enabled me to acquire skills in structuring projects according to the framework logic, writing SMART objectives and developing coherent budgets in line with project activities. The tools I tried out, such as the planning matrix, the donor presentation template and the project evaluation and implementation grids, will be particularly useful for effectively designing and defending my various proposals in my professional environment.
- The trainer’s availability, the team spirit among the postdoctoral researchers, the interactive nature of the sessions, the quality of the speakers, the richness of the educational content, and the adherence to the programme were all praised. Participants also highlighted the friendly atmosphere that prevailed throughout the training, as well as the establishment—or strengthening—of bonds between them, thus promoting the creation of a professional network.
- The consultant has significant expertise and experience in the field, particularly with regard to funding institutions. This is what struck me the most, as he was able to illustrate his points with concrete examples drawn from his professional experience.
