Frequently Asked Questions
SETYM International Training Programme and Services
What is SETYM International?
SETYM International is a Canadian professional management training institute specialising in capacity-building in the field of international development. We offer a complete range of seminars, customized training, and coaching sessions for development project managers (coordinators), their administrative teams, and civil servants working in public and para-public organisations in emerging and developing countries.
Where do you offer your seminars?
Our international seminars are delivered throughout our global network of training centres. We have training facilities in Montreal (Canada), Marrakech (Morocco), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Paris (France). We also offer custom group training seminars, which can be delivered either on-site or online according to the specific needs of your organisation.
Who are your training seminars for?
Our training seminars are specifically designed for the managers and coordinators of development projects and their administrative teams, and for executives running public and para-public organisations in emerging and developing countries. Our programmes fulfill the management standards set by governments, major donors and development aid agencies.
Participants in our training seminars generally have direct involvement in development project management, public administration or similar roles. We welcome participants with a diversity of professional and academic experience, but some seminars may require specific skills or prior knowledge. We invite you to refer to the course details, or to contact our training programme advisors for further details.
What sets your training seminars apart from those offered by competitors?
The SETYM experience goes beyond offering training; it serves as a catalyst for professional transformation, with every detail of your attendance crafted to better your career. We are respected for offering an exceptional welcome that will make you feel at home from day one. You will be accepted into an environment that fosters not only learning, but also well-being and human connection. A team of seasoned experts embody the expertise we are so proud to offer. These specialists adopt a practical, interactive approach geared toward mature participants, which is focused on applying knowledge immediately.
We strive for excellence by emphasizing interaction and participation within all our training seminars. This approach enables participants to acquire skills that are immediately applicable to their professional context. In fact, we recommend that participants bring along information relating to the files they manage, in connection with the theme of their chosen seminar. This makes it possible to set up practical workshops, have discussions, and focus on tools that are adapted to the reality of participants’ projects, programs or organisations.
Do SETYM International's training seminars lead to certification?
Yes, all our training seminars lead to certification. At the end of each seminar, participants receive a certificate attesting to their participation and the acquisition of skills in the field covered by the training.
In addition, SETYM International and its partner university can award professional titles as part of a professional accreditation programme. Successful candidates will receive diplomas, issued in Montreal (Canada), with the official seals of both the École des sciences de la gestion de l’Université du Québec à Montréal (ESG UQAM) and SETYM International. They will also be able to use the trademarked official logo and badge associated with their accreditation. Please note that our accreditations are currently offered in French only.
What's the difference between an international seminar and professional accreditation?
SETYM’s international seminars offer intensive training focused on specific topics related to development project management, public administration and other key areas that are important to our participants. These seminars aim to develop practical skills and provide tools that can be applied immediately in a professional context. At the end of each seminar, participants receive a certificate of participation confirming their attendance and commitment.
Our French training programmes go even further, offering not only in-depth training but also an internationally recognized, formal accreditation. These accreditations require the successful completion of an assessment in the form of MCQs, in partnership with L’École des sciences de la gestion de l’Université du Québec à Montréal (ESG UQAM). To be admitted to these accreditation seminars, candidates must submit a professional and academic dossier that will be evaluated by a jury comprising members of SETYM International and ESG UQAM management. Please note that our accreditations are currently offered only in French.
Who can benefit from SETYM International accreditations? What experience do I need to qualify?
SETYM International’s accreditations are aimed at professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge and certify their skills in specific fields related to international development, project management, public governance or environmental sustainability. These accredited training seminars are ideal for those who wish to develop their expertise and obtain formal recognition of their skills through internationally-recognized certification. Completion of the training also signifies the accredited manager’s dedication to ongoing improvement, serving as a mark of professional quality that is renewable every five years.
To gain access to one of our accreditation programmes, candidates must demonstrate professional experience (typically between 3 and 5 years) in a field relevant to the training. This prerequisite ensures that all participants have a sufficient level of understanding and experience to take full advantage of the programme and make a significant contribution to discussions and group work.
We encourage interested parties to consult the detailed descriptions of our accredited training seminars on our website, or to contact our team directly for personalized advice regarding which programme would be best suited to their career path and professional goals.

Do I need to bring along documentation to the training?
We recommend bringing documentation with you, as our seminars include a consulting component. Training seminars focus on the practical application of project management, public procurement, public governance and sustainable development methods and tools. The aim is to apply the content of each module to the realities of your role in your project, program or organisation.
